We had a Class 40 veteran arrive at the club yesterday, fresh from the Newport Boat Show. Skipper Ronnie Simpson is planning to enter the 2027-28 Global Solo Challenge. We think he backed in to the dock because the dodger would have blocked his view forward.

That could be. Judging by his flag and the wind direction indicator on the moored boat to the left, he might have also been thinking about what direction he wanted to be facing when he left the dock. Either way, backing in seemed like an easy approach with the wind holding his bow on.
