Quick Release Levers

Is anyone using a quick release lever on the 23.5 forestay? Tell me what you know and what problems you encountered. Obviously this makes disconnecting the forestay and and lowering/raising the mast while underway much easier. I am looking a a Johnson Marine (pp 16) catalog and getting ideas. That's what happens when it's too cold to sail in Florida. All comments/suggestions/etc welcome.

I Considered it For a Short Time

The device is not cheap and the forestay would have to be shortened. I put some anti seize on the threads of mine and it was much easier for me to turn, but it will turn easier by it's self as well so keep an eye on it. Guess the next couple of weeks are going to be winter and we can get back on the water after the end of the month.

Rick - I'm not understanding exactly what you did. Are you able to tighten and loosen the forestay turnbuckle with two bare hands?

Exactly

Just a dab'l do ya. Once you get some on all of the threads it is easy to turn the turnbuckle.
