TO PEGGIE HALL/HEAD MISTRESS MY 30T IS IN THE YARD AND THE TEMP HERE IN CHARLESTON IS GOING TO 16 DEGREES F TONITE. WILL IT HURT MY HOLDING TANK OR HOSES TO PUT A COUPLE OF GALLONS OF THE PINK RV ANTIFREEZE INTO IT? I HAVE NO POWER WITH WHICH TO RUN A 100 WATT BULB NOR ELECTRIC HEATER, SO MUST RELY ON ANTIFREEZE.

More than just the tank.

You need to disconnect the hose at the thru-hull and put it in the pink stuff. Might need an extension. Then pump it through the head with the flush pump. I would pump two gallons through there to make sure the "toilet" parts, hoses, and tank are protected. What about the Yanmar and the fresh water system?

Methinks you'd better winterize

Pull the head intake hose off the thru-hull and stick it in a gallon of antifreeze...pump the whole gallon through the head and into the tank. Just to be on the safe side, disconnect the intake hose from the back of the bowl. Drain the water tank if you haven't already...pull the hose off the tank, stick it in another gallon of antifreeze and turn on every faucet till you see antifreeze coming out. Use ONLY non/toxic potable antifreeze--the pink stuff in both systems. Others will tell you what you need to do to your engine.

Thanks

Thanks folks. I did the potable water tank already. It's too late to take the hose off the intake for the head now - can't get back over there this evening. I did the pink stuff in the holding tank, but not the intake. I may be buying that new head I have been wanting. The engine is ok on the closed system. Never had to worry about this stuff down here when I was in the water. Harbor temp is 50 degrees and that keeps most things warm enough.
