I have a few questions and am hoping for some help from experienced sailers. I recently bought an international 470 (used but promising) and have encountered two problems on my first sail. When we backed the boat into the water and whenever a wave hit our transom water would splash in because most of the transom is cut out (per the design I believe). The water didn't drain and our feet sat in water the rest of the time which of course is expected while sailing but I am a bit confused by the design. We opened the auto bailers and even under way the water level did not seem to go down. Is there a minimum speed needed to get them to work (we didn't go above 5 MPH due to wind conditions). Also, the centerboard has left me puzzled. To lower it I had to undue a jam cleat and tug a lot. Then to raise it I undid a jam cleat and the board popped up. But...it remained down 1/3 of the way and I would only get it up by pushing on the board on the other side of the pivot point (and had to tight it down with another line). Could this be the result of a worn out bungee or line or is there something wrong with the block set up? I really appreciate the help. I have searched google already but these questions remain. ~sam
