I was at the marina today and talking with another sailor about cleaning sails. He told me (I think is not a very good idea) that he heard of some boat owners painting their sails with latex paint. I would think that would ruin a good sail. Has anyone else ever heard of that?

It certainly would not improve a sail. It could be fun to get an old sail and have a bunch of kids paint it and then fly it for a parade.
