I am installing a leak detector, and the question came up -- if it detects propane in the bilge, how do you get it out of the bilge? A blower sounds like the source for a spark. What type of hand pump would work (or would some electric blower work?)

blower

They make marine blowers designed for removing fumes from bilges. They can be installed in-line anywhere and allow the suction side of the hose to be in the bilge. They are designed to make no spark. Don

The bilge may not be the place for the sniffer

I had a propane sniffer installed on my H380 and the professional that installed it placed it under the stove that being the only place I had propane coming into the boat. It is one hose from the tank to the stove. The person doing the installing said don't wait until it gets into the bilge. If it did get propane in the bilge I'd open the boat well with all ports openned to max and let the boat air out. I'm not sure I would evan stay on the boat as static electricity could set it off.
