Steve Thanks for your reply. I realize that the shoal draft will not point as high. Is there a rule of thoumb how much pointing will I loose.( in degrees) I will be sailing the boat on lake Ontario which is not really that shallow. I am also planning on doing some club racing. Do you think I should look at the regular draft Hunter instead ???

Henry: I am not sure about the degrees of pointing ability. You should search the archives for the last 2 years and see what others "think". I would think you would have a higher PHRF rating with the shoal keel, that may make up for part of this too. I think that some have stated 5 deg. or so. The shoal keel generally only gets you 8-12" difference in depth. I have not seen one of the old Cherubini's w/ a shoal keel. They generally weigh in about 500 more with the shoal keel. Sorry I'm not much help on this but you should find your answer in the archives.
