Question for 240 owners

[Hydro Therapy]

I may go look at a 240 this weekend. I was wondering about the open transom. Does it tend to take water in through the opening? A bigger concern would be while docked.

I'm going to use my 22 this season but plan on treating myself with an upgrade this fall. I have my mind set on 2 models, the 240 and 272. I really like the 272 but the 240 may be more practical for my needs.

If it does, I imagine the water would drain right back out from the same spot. I've noticed some people have switched the motor from to the other side and put the ladder beneath the opening to use it as a walk through. That would be nice.
I've always liked the cabin arrangement of the 240. The 23 has all that space beneath the cockpit that is under utilized.

I have a 260 and it has never been an issue or concern. I actually wanted the sugar scoop which is why I didn't go with a 26. I love it!

Shanker reminds me that there is a Hunter 240. I assumed we were discussing an ODay 240. If not, I have no opinion on the boat.

Oops, I was referring to the O'day 240. Sorry for the confusion.

I just looked at the 240. The transom opening is well above the water line. The cabin space is monstrous compared to my 22. I think the 240's were well planned out by O'day.

I own a 240 and have had it in 6 foot waves in Lake Ontario and in the Hawke channel in Florida. No water came in the transom at any time. The stern is quite buoyant and rides over wave coming from astern easily.
