Well this is my first post...

I purchased a 1978 Catalina 25'
It is in great shape, new sails, roller on the front, new Yamaha 9.9 in the rear.

First boat, and of course first sailboat.

I am may time to time as *dumb* questions, so please bear with me.

Since I have a roller on the front, it that my only option for a front sail?
it is a 150% genoa.

Just curious

Alan, since you have a roller furling with a 150 installed you are locked into that sail only. It can be rolled in about 25% to reduce power but it will perform much poorer than a standard smaller roller furling sail. Any less than that and it will actually hurt the boats ability to sail. I would strongly recommend you find a standard size jib or something in the range of 90 to 120% with a 100% standard being the best to learn with. Just make sure it is set-up for a roller furling unit. They are quite commonly found on the used sail sites and not too expensive and easy to install.
When you have some experence then install the 150. Also, walk your dock and alk to other sailors. Most will welcome you to ride with them a time or two and give a little experence. Some will actually come to your boat and help explain how to set her up and that is the best help you can get.

Thanks for the information.... well guess what?? My 150 headsail now has a 6-7 foot RIP from this past weekend....

I was told by the sail repair shop, it may be better to go ahead and by another one, instead of reparing...
Where can I get a cheap USED front sail online???
