I was given a Yamaha 9 gallon gas tank that fits very well in the tank area of my H-26. Only problem is that I have a Nissan 8 hp, so the fuel line fittings are different. Unfortunately, the tank-side fitting is molded in and I can't figure out a way to swap out the 2-prong fitting. (The Nissan/Tohatsu has a single ring-like fitting.) Does anyone know if mixing the fittings would work? I can easily replace the motor-side fitting on the fuel line to match my engine, but would it even work, given that I have to leave the Yamaha fitting on the tank? Part of me says there must be a good reason for the difference, the other part of me says it shouldn't matter, since it's just sucking gas through a line (and having different fittings makes perfect sense if you're in sales! :) ) Thoughts? It will work.

All you have to do is get the propper engine side fitting from your Nissan dealer and splice it in the line. The draw works the same just a different fitting to keep them brand specific. You may be able to find a generic fitting at an aftermarket supplier in your area or on the net.

I think that they have them at WM.

I think you can find these at West Marine.

Thanks

Appreciate the input. West Marine carries the fitting - at $25, while Boater's World carries the same part (checked the model numbers even) for $13.99! And West Marine wonders why some of us grumble so much! Thanks for the input - I always appreciate the help I get here! Dave Crowley h-26 Wind Dreamer

To save you a return trip take your tank and hose with you. There are problems with on manufacturers fitting matching another. They all seem to work fine on the motor just on the tank fittings. The Yamaha and the new Mercury are the same fittings maybe that is where the problem comes from.
