Question about 1990 Hunter 18.5 T-Ball Receivers

Hunter 18.5 Lake Travis
I just picked up a Hunter 18.5 and when checking over the boat completely missed something during my inspection. When I got home, I raised the mast and to my surprise it appears as though there may have at one time been t-ball receivers installed on the mast. I asked the previous owner and he told me he slotted the t-balls directly into the slot in the mast. I'm pretty sure there were back plates or receivers installed since it looks like there are rivet holes were some once were. Am I crazy, or should this mast have either t-ball receivers or t-ball backing plates. Is it ok to slot them directly into the mast or should I add this to my list of projects?

Also, I'd like to repaint the bottom this winter and do some work on the trailer. How difficult is it to put the boat on stands / jacks? Is this something I can do myself or would I be treading into dangerous territory and risking some huge mistakes in possibly damaging the integrity of the hull in doing so because of my lack of experience?

Thanks in advance, I find these forums incredibly useful!

There are backing plates that should be on the mast for the t balls. Advise boom/mast manufacturer first. It may be Z Spar.
As for painting can you go back to owner and ask what paint was used. Not only boat could be damaged, you could hurt yourself. Picture of boat sitting on trailer please.

The mast has a sticker at the base - Z-Diffusion. It's hard to read the rest, but it looks like it says H-18 for the type. I'm going to do some googling and see if I can find the right parts I need to secure the stays better.

That is Z Spar. You can order thru the forum store as they will know what you need or go to U S Spars as they have the parts. The forum store has the build list of parts for your boat

That boat is definitely the 18.5. Let me know how you are doing with the boat
