Question about 1981 H22

I have a question about my H22. At the top of the starboard quarter berth back behind the sink. There is a metal plate with two large bolts. The bolt heads are in the compartment for the gas tank. Can anyone tell me what this is for?Thanks

Bolts

A previous owner somewhere along the line must have added something. I also have an 81 H22 and have nothing in the gas tank compartment except a fuel can and a screw in deck plate on the right side of said compartment for access to the bolts for the kicker motor bracket.

maybe a battery post thing

i just saw an aftermarket battery post thingy at west marine that sounds like what you are talking about. it is basically like a strip of steel with two batter posts sticking out of it. maybe it is something like that.

Ditto to what Mark said. My Hunter 22 is as Mark discribes. Just wanted to post for the sake of confirmation.
