I'm looking at adding a Quantum Sailpack and a brand new main sail for next year. I was told it would add windage. Is that something only racers would care about?

Negligible. Not worth worrying about, lots of high end race boats use them, in particular short handed boats.

Plus, why worry about windage? The only time you will see ANY effect is docking in a crosswind. And even that, minor and compensatable.

I'm adding one next year. Just had Tony Peele and Paul Seymour from Bay Sails in Sodus out to measure for one.

Give Tony a call. If you had Haarstick sails on your boat, he and Paul probably built them. They are at Katlynn Marina in Sodus Point.

Tony's number is: 585-355-0905.

I added a Mack Pack from Mack Sails a few years ago. Great addition, particularly when sailing single-handed.

Yes, it may add a little windage, but it depends on what your old sail cover was fit...I don’t think mine is all that much different than the old sail cover.

And as Jackdaw notes, really only an issue when docking in a cross wind.

I replaced the sail in the spring with a full-batten main and a Tides Strong Track. I really like the set-up.

I placed a deposit for a new main and sailpack from Quantum Sails. I'm getting a cross cut main made out of Challenge Newport AP 6.63 with 2 full 2 partial battens. I get a 15% discount plus a $74.00 instant rebate by ordering now.
