I've posted on this previously but still finding it difficult to figure out what is going on.(I'm on a fresh water lake so the "taste test" is of no help.)I was motoring back into my marina berth two days ago after a good sail hard on the wind in a fresh breeze. As I approached the marina I applied heavy reverse power to take way off (the wind was at my back).A few seconds later as I came alongside (having turned to starboard) the 12 auto bilge pump kicked in for a few seconds, pumping a litre or two of water from bilge into cockpit (it then drains from cockpit via cockpit drains).I assumed that the heavy deceleration had pushed water forward from the aft end of the bilge (which is deeper?) to the forward end where the auto bilge pump is.But the weird part is that the carpet on the saloon sole/floor was wetted - could water have made its way *up* through the forward bilge cover - seems impossible???Or - given that the starboard saloon floor-level locker was again wetted - maybe water somehow made its way forward to the locker floor? I did have a bag of melting ice in the cool box which is on starboard side of boat, aft of sink.I can't think of any other source for the water that made its way to the saloon locker floor as the weather was hot & dry..All very mysterious and a bit worrying. Are the two events (activation of 12V auto bilge pump after deceleration & water making its way to starboard floor level saloon locker) related?I reassure myself by observing that if there is any underwater loss of hull integrity the boat would have sunk long ago?I'll try using food dye in water in cool box to see if that is the source..Suggestions very welcome.ThanksJohn V1447 Breakaway
