Hi everyone, I was hoping you all can tell me the proper location of boat stands when pulling the boat out of the water for the winter. I heard that if they are placed in the wrong location the weight of the boat can damage the hull. Is that true? Was anyone looked into this? I had the boat out of the water for a couple of weeks two years ago and the yard guys put the stands were they thought they were needed. Nothing seemed to go wrong. This time I plan to leave the boat out for several months so I want to make sure that my "baby" doesn't get damaged will she sits on the hard. Thanks for the replies in advance.

poppets

I would put put two stands aft along the transom edge, one or two stands towards the bow along the keel, and one on each side along the interior bulkhead separating the vee berth from the rest of the cabin and out from where the keel pivots. You could add a stand on each side along the interior bulkhead where the cabin entrance locates. However, I bet the yard will out the poppets (boat stands) where they want to, and I suspect it will be sufficient. But see if you could add a couple more stands if the yard only uses five.
