Try a Tony Soprano for a sundowner
2 shots Tuaca
1 shot amaretto
Shake with ice, strain and pour.
Stir in pineapple juice and garnish with a cherry.

Or a true daiquiri
2 shots light or dark rum
Dash of sugar
Fill with Lime juice.

Or caipirinha
Muddle sliced lime with 4 tbsp sugar
Add ice and cachaça (about 2 shots worth)
Shake and serve on the rocks (limes stay in the glass)

Lastly, my favorite... Homebrew!

Oh yeah and I usually rinse the deck down after each trip.

Susan Tedeschi ...

she seems to fly under the radar but she is fantastic. Angel from Montgomery is something else. Bonnie Raitt defines this song, though.

Ok, that did it ... I could be listening to this stuff all day! I first became aware of Bonnie Raitt with this song.

She knocked Linda Ronstadt off the perch of "most desirable female artist" for me back in the 70's, and come to think of it, Bonnie Raitt may still be there.

Almost forgot, coffee with Kahlua and just enough rain to keep it full while my wife stands at the companion way....smiling....head shaking....mouthing "You old fool"...as I put away the gear.

Glad you listened to Derek and Susan, aren't they amazing. Did I say that so far I have not been able to get through that video without realizing I was crying. I am coming back in my next life playing exquisite guitar. Evidently Derek was somewhat of a child prodigy. We just secured tickets to see them in July and really looking forward to it.
Just bought the Revelator album. Every song on there is incredible. You can really hear the Clapton/Allman Brothers influence in their music. I've listened to some clips from their respective bands and will definitely be adding them to the repertoire. Mega-talents.

Music and drinks to finish a day sailing

Been sailing all weekend and come back to some fine comments.
Daprilla, definitely going to try the true Daiquiri, I am really into simple drinks these days. It sounds really refreshing.
Scott, Totally agree, I have been a Bonnie Raitt fan for so long. I used to go to Jackson Brown concerts and she was just starting out.. always with him. My favorite of her's is Anyday Woman but gosh, so many to love.
Here it is but there is no visual in this clip. The words are amazing, especially from a woman's viewpoint.

Jack, I downloaded the same last week. I am desperately looking for the CD to the Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010 but only find the DVD. Hope CD is out sometime.
Jack and Scott: Long time ago went to a tiny benefit concert with: Bonnie, Linda, Jackson Brown, Jeff Bridges, etc. etc.... Bonnie played guitar like I've never seen and Linda and Bonnie did For A Dancer and it was amazing.
Zee, found the Buicks, Bye Bye Baby, nice guitar solo!!!! Thank YOU! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2r0avcqro0&feature=related

Lamenting ...

No wind, lots of rain for the weekend. We had drinks on the boat and some swimming on Friday evening. So far this year, I seem to be driving past our boat on the way home from work on the best days for sailing.

I have a new favorite boat drink! Had company on Emmanuel this weekend and my girlfriend made a big pitcher of Sangria on Saturday. OMG, it was awesome. Here is her recipe:

Sangria
1 bottle cheap red wine
1/2 cup banana liquer
1/2 cup orange liquer
1 bottle club soda
The juice of 1 lemon
Sugar to taste
Fruits of the day

Juice lemon into large pitcher. Add sugar to taste. Add liquers, red wine and club soda. Add fruit (sliced oranges and bananas, raspberries, blackberries, cherries). Into each glass ladle some of the fruit. Add ice cubes and then pour in sangria. Yum.

I'll throw my 2 cents in here:

Margarita: the lime juice concentrate recipe works great for a quick mix pitcher. If I have more time (and the supplies) I go with this:
1 1/2 oz tequila
1/2 triple sec
fresh squeezed juice of 1 orange
fresh squeezed juice of 1 lime
splash of simple syrup to taste (1/2 to 1 teaspoon)

The wife's current favorite: The Patio
1.5 oz vodka
.5 oz raspberry liqueur, razzmatazz is cheaper but go with Chambord if you feel fancy pants.
3 oz lemonade.

Or the very simple Watermelon martini
1.5 watermelon vodka
1 oz watermelon schnapps.

or one more watermelon drink
1.5 oz watermelon vodka
club soda
