Here is my concept of building a mount. Each layer is 3/8" think. Layers are epoxied to each other. Missing in this drawing is the last layer and the placement of the mounting holes. This is not to scale, but the dimensions are 6x6 with 1" channels.

Brian, is that two pieces of 3/8" ply? Wouldn't that give you 3/4" spacing, and the cutouts being 1"?

Yes, after putting it all together I will have to make some channel adjustments. Small groove to better fit the 1" diameter rail. This isn't plywood. It is actually poly cutting board material. I was in WalMart last night pricing and their largest boar is about $10. Right now I am using pine that I have laying around the house to make the template and see what else needs to be done. But you can see my stern rail is not like "bigger boats".

Plan on pushing the boat with it? Not any more than planning on pulling the boat with the pulpit, so named due to it's similarity to the place Reverend Ike stands on Sunday mornings warning us against all evil.

Ask anyone who has worked in the sailboat industry if they're ever ordered a 'pushpit.' Stern pulpits or stern rails, yes but some other made up name? Nope.

your french model friend doesnt have a lugger by any chance?--is only boat with true push pit--for us regular sailors, is called a stern rail.

A board of 4" thickness (actual 3.5") will do it held by "U" bolts. Use treated wood and large washers on the bolts. The motor in the pic weighs 56 lbs. The mount was installed as temporary but has been there for 5 years and still being used.

Benny, did think to use a full length board. That is the simplest idea and it slipped right past me. Guess I was trying to get too high tech with poly boards. Will have to stop by HD and see what they have in Maple or Oak. Thank you, sir!
