Hey guys, just purchased a Suzuki DF2.5 for my dinghy. So I purchased it used but the mount the guy was selling (West Marine re-marketed Sea-Dog) does not fit. My pushpit is smaller than normal pushpits.
My option is to build one. The motor weights around 40# so that is the minimum requirement if wood is used. I tried searching around the forums but could not find anything on DIY mounts. I did some prelim measuring and found 6x6 to be adequate. However, what thickness or type of wood to use and how to attach the mount to the rail.
I figured that an off-set mount would work. However, I do not have routers to cut the channels. I thought of using SS pipe straps, the 2-hole type. Four straps should do the trick with through bolts and maybe some rubber or felt padding to protect the rail.
So, anyone have other ideas or options? Thanks in advance.
