had the same problem w/ birds on the spreaders....the solution was i ripped a piece of trex decking material the size of each spreader and placed stainless steel deck screws through it every 2 inches and placed them on each spreader...problem GONE...
how about some kind of poison? Maybe something that would be absorbed through their feet? Or put some bird food up there filled with Bird Killer Brand Poison.
Of course, on the other hand we use poison on mice, rats, arachnids, insects, and assorted other critters, so what differentiates when it is acceptable? We spray poison all over our crops
Dollar Tree Store has "Totally Awesome" and it costs $1.00. Just spray it on let it sit and wash it off. The chemical does 90 percent of the work. We used it on Teak too and it was amazing without any brushing. I suppose if your teak is REALLY bad, you may need a soft brush.
What was amazing is that this stuff only cost $1.00 per bottle and worked that well. I have used stuff that cost 10 x this amount and did very little or nothing.
