Small distraction

Oh thanks for that little bit of distraction-clicked on that link and got sucked into wasting 30 minutes watching those films! And all I have to show for it is more desire for warmer weather sooner!

Wow Thanks

Makes me want to get another Laser or equivalent. I think that I might be getting too old for windsurfing. Though for several years I had two windsurfers and they were fun. Still have one in the garage. I get excited if the Pearson hits 6 knots. The film clip reminded me of younger faster times. Thanks

Don't you just HATE winter?!

I have to agree with Tom, I'm wetting my pants when the Legend gets up to 7 kts. I can only imagine what 31.1 feels like. I really think I'm going to go buy myself a windsurfer for Christmas.

Well, that was the most excited Ive been from a 30 second clip on a 2" screen since the Pamela Anderson tape. Does anyone know where they race those things here on the west coast?? I want to see it. They look like they're right on the edge of disaster at all times. Like they're riding on an airplane wing trying to ditch in an impossible cross wind. Where do I sign up?

The amazing contrast ...

Watching these high speed multi-hulls with windsurfing and kite sailing in the picture shows the enormous disparity of the money that is involved in sailing these speeds. I'm sure that sailing a large multi-hull at 31 knots is exciting. It is fairly routine for any intermediate windsurfer to sail over 30 knots on standard off-the-shelf production equipment that can be bought new for about a couple thousand dollars. I don't think the kite sailers can sail quite as fast as the windsurfers but they still generate similar speed and a whole lot of air for very little cost! How much do the multi-hulls cost? Maybe about $100,000 per knot? The winches those guys grind on probably cost more than the windsurfing equipment. The guys that are sailing those boats look like they have to be young or at least in great shape. I think that I would still have no problem sailing up to about 35 MPH with the right winds and flat water on the windsurfing equipment that has been in my basement for about a decade ... and I'm old and about 20 pounds over weight!
