I have a Macgregor 25. I'm interested in purchasing a used Genoa Does anyone know of a good source? Additionally, my Mcgregor does not have winches. I assume I would need them installed in order to properly operate the Genoa. Any advice on purchasing and installing?

...they may be less than you think. At least you will have a point of comparison. However, below is a link for used sails. They may also have winches. (OOps, I forgot the link the first time) http://www.minneysyachtsurplus.com/ Rick D.

Sailwarehouse

One great place to look is at thesailwarehouse.com. Check the link and follow the links to select headsails for your boat (nice they have them listed by boat make and not sail dimensions). Brand new headsails for your boat go for $295-$575 for a hank on sail.

let me know also

A few days ago, I submitted the same question (see below) I'll let you know what I find - hope you'll do the same. Perry mimiperry@woh.rr.com We've got a 25 MacGregor (1986) and are in need of a Genoa. We've only used the jib that came with the boat. Any ideas what size and where to get one? I'd also like to put on a furling system. Sail on a lake in Ohio, so I don't need a state of the art system. Thanks for your help

Second Wind

Check out Second Wind used sails at the link below. They have an inventory on line. I haven't purchased sails from them, but they are cleaning mine and doing a little patch work. Very friendly to deal with and they come highly recommended by some of the folks on my dock. I just hope my sails are back by the weekend as promised. It's supposed to be 60 degrees on Saturday and 65 on Sunday with 11 mph winds. Not bad considering it snowed here yesterday.

used sails

try http://www.minneysyachtsurplus.com/ I bought a drifter last year for $100.00 and it was in good shape and better than what they rated it at the website. Some basic measurements are required to pick the right one. For a genoa on a small lake you are better off with a lighter cloth weight say 3-3.5 should be good. good luck Kam
