I need to purchase a pumpout adapter for the holding tank deck fitting on my Hunter 28.5. The West Marine catalog lists three: (a) 1 1/2 deck fitting with 11.5 threads per inch, (b) 1 1/4 deck fitting with 11.5 threads per inch and (c) 1 1/4 deck fitting with 16 threads per inch. As I cannot get to the boat to measure soon enough, anyone out there who might know which of the three, if any, fits?

Call your ship's store

I would think any self-respecting ship's store or marina that has a pump-out would have the device and provide it free for your use. In any event, call them to get the specs.

Do you need one?

Never had to use one, the pumpout station's nozzle seals just fine. Where I pumpout the nozzle on their hose has three diameters, like steps. It is rubber and seals right into the hole where the threads are. Someone has to hold it firmly but that would be true with an adapter I think.

At Your Local Hardward Store

I had a similar problem and solved it at my local hardware store. My H-28 has a 1 1/4 inch deck opening. The pumpout fitting is a 1 3/8. I got a 1 1/4 to 1 3/8 reducing coupling and a 1 1/4 close nipple and made my own adapter. It works fine.

More than likely, your deck fitting is...

1.25", 11tpi. If it was built within the last 10 years, that's definitely what it is.
