Peggy, Would like your recommendation for pumping out/dumping the holding tank (fixed marine head) on the new H260. We have EXTREMELY limited pumpout facilities. Most local facilities are 'RV dumps'. Maybe Hunter could install a pump for that purpose?? Appreciate any ideas. Thanks. Tom

Adding a pump sounds like the solution...

..but at your own expense, not Hunter's! Every production boat lacks things that owners think would improve their lives aboard. If they didn't, West Marine would go out of business! And when used boats come on the market, it's the list of "owner added extras" that can make one boat more appealing than another...and usually represents a huge savings to the next owner, 'cuz new boats never have all that stuff. So I think that adding a pump that will allow you to take advantage of RV dump stations while your boat is on the trailer is an excellent idea...and will make a great beginning to your list of "owner added extras" in an area where dockside pumpouts are few and far between.

Thanks PeggY!

After thinking about it, that's exactly what I'll do. Thanks again! Tom

Now let's think about what kind of pump and...

where and how to install it. You have a little bit of an engineering project ahead of you.

My thoughts....

Peggy, What I was thinking was one of the better pumps from some catalog supplier with the longer, 24"-36" veritcle handle (removable hopefully). I also saw a screw in adapter that would screw into the deck pumpout (what about that little chain.....humm). I envision having some HIGH quality hose with the screw in adapter on one end (all double clamped of course) -> pump mounted on a hunk of board that you could stand on for stability-> another length of HIGH quality hose that may or may not have some sort of end on it. Basically you would/could screw in the holding tank adapter, drop the other end into the 'RV dump' receptical and pump away. Perhaps someone else, or whatever, could flush the head a few times to rinse to your satisfaction. Then you would remove the adapter and if necessary rinse the pump and hoses more. Then, theoretically, you would coil up the unit and throw it into the lazarrette, (maybe in some sort of bag), or the back of the truck or whatever. What do you think?? Regards, Tom

Sounds like you're on the right track

But speaking of "that little chain"...remove it (just disconnect it from the cap...won't hurt anything if it dangles in the fitting). The pumpout deck fitting is the only one that should not have one because it's impossible to create any suction with a chain in the way. In fact, now that you've mentioned it, I can't help but wonder if it's the reason several people have written that they can't seem to empty their holding tanks.
