To All My 1988 Hunter Legend 35 has a hand pump in the lazarette. Over the past 18 years time has taken its toll. The pump gasket has bad crack. It is a Rule Pump circa 1987 I tried the Rule web page but it appears they are no longer in the hand pump business. Anyody know where I can get a new pump gasket ??? Robert Pensaacola, FL

I Replaced Mine a Few Years Ago

I'll assume that you are talking about the head hand pump out. I replaced mine (under the head sink on my '88 L37). I found it at the BoatUS Special Orders Desk. Exact pump (Upgraded) with the same footprint. I broke the handle, but the diaphram is still intact. What is the Model number?

No Available Anymore ..

My pump was missing the handle when I got the boat and the rubber diaphram was shot. I looked into getting a replacement for it, but they are no longer available. It turned out that a local chandlery had the exact pump from old stock and a great price. Being a Great Lakes boat, it had long ago been disconnected from the waste tank and I now have the pump set up to be a manual emergency bilge pump.

Replaced With Whale Gusher

Consider just replacing it with a better pump. I upgraded mine with a Whale Gusher Titan http://www.whalepumps.com/marine/product_list/7/50/ and it fit bolt-for-bolt ('88 HL-35) so no new holes were required. The flow rate with the Whale is much greater and the handle makes it easier to pump. A few years after I replaced it, wouldn't you know it, Whale came out with a new unit that is designed specifically for sanitary systems http://www.whalepumps.com/marine/product_list/12/68/. It has a plastic housing that covers the neoprene flexible 'membrane'. I don't know what the bolt pattern is but if you don't want any new holes in the bulkhead one could use a backing plate, maybe made of painted plywood? Hope this helps.

MANY THANKS

Gentlemen, Many thanks. In my HL35 this pump is used for a bilge pump for the lazarette. I did a google search and the going price is about $120.00US for the Gusher pump. Thanks again - Robert Pensacola, FL
