Pump under sink of '96 Oceanis 321

I have a 1996 Oceanis 321 and am wondering about what appears to be a pump that is plumbed into the galley sink drain thru-hull. The 321 manual does not make any reference to this item. I'm guessing that it used to be part of the air conditioning system which was removed from the boat before I bought it? It appears to have only AC wiring, so I'm guessing it was used to drain the air conditioner overboard. Should be safe to remove this since I no longer have the a/c unit and do not intend to install a new one, correct?

Thanks for any info.

OK. I must say that looks strange! Probably if you follow the two hoses (they seem to be two right?) you may find some more answers to the mystery.

Looks like the raw water pump that pumps cooling water thru my air conditioner.

That without a doubt is the cooling water pump for a AC unit. The pump has a seal-less head that uses magnet to drive the impellers without needed a dry-side/wet-side seal. Very fun.

What is not fun looking is that the intake was plumbed into your SINK DRAIN. If so that was an unbelievably stupid install. Anything that was rinsed down the drain while the AC was running would have ended up in the filter in from of the pump, clogging it. These pumps should have their OWN intake thru-hull.

Yeah, there was a secondary ball valve half way down the sink drain line that must have been to isolate the sink drainage from the a/c. I can imagine that would be incredibly easy to forget. Probably why the a/c unit was dead and gone by the time I got the boat. :)
