Pump out pump

Peggy, I thought we better split the previous forum regarding pumping out. My original question was: can a macerator (or any) pump be connected to the deck pump out fitting, so that it vacums the tank? Our marina has a hand prime/pump out cart. I was thinking about getting a pump to screw on the deck fitting, with a discharge directly in to the pump caddy tank. Will that work The 29.5 factory installation has a hand operated pump to pump overboard (illegal for me), and a deck fitting with vent. Currently when pumping out, I close the through hull (always closed), prime the pump on the caddy, attach it to the deck fitting and pump and pump and pump (get the picture-smell-a-vision). I would like a pump (perferable 12 volt) to pump hard and fast. I might even convince the club to purchase the pump and attach it to the cart. Suggestions

Get the club to buy the pump

You're only talking a $150-200. Plumbing a boat to shoot holding tank contents out the deck fitting, while still retaining the ability to dump out the thru-hull at sea, can be a wee tad involved. 'Twould be far better if th electric pump were on the pumpout cart, where it can suck the waste out.

Recommendations

As you are the Head Mistress, we will respectfully request the pump! Got any recommendations for said pump?

I'd definitely make sure it's a diaphragm pump....

IMpeller pumps are too prone to impeller failure. Since it's going on a cart, and not a full-fledged dockside pumpout, it doesn't have to be anything big. Have your marina contact the local Edson distributor.
