Pump guard filter jams

In my salon head I have a problem

The pump guard filter in the shower pump line gets clogged. Mostly hair. This is good it is doing its job.

But the location behind the head discharge pipe makes it hard to get my hand on it let alone unscrew it.

It also seems to be harder to unscrew than other filters on the boat.

Do you guys have the same problem? Any ideas on making it easier?

Have you considered simply buying a small piece of window screening (plastic is better) and using silicone to daub it down on top? It stops stuff before it gets to your main screen, is easily removable and replaceable.

Someone else suggested some sort of drain screen from Home Depot. I am nowhere near one at the moment :-(
