Yal have heard my story, thanks for the guidance and advice. As of today I am the proud owner of a 1980 O'Day 28. Needs a little cosmetic elbow grease, but nothing a few days work shouldn't take care of. Only thing she needs is a part from Edson for the Helm (adjuster Idler) http://www.edsonmarine.com/marinestore/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=243

Other than that a real gem with pretty new sails.

Thanks everyone for the advise, not just deciding what to name her. Remember I'm a 26 year old Vet using this for therapy so anything that goes hand and hand with that as a name would mean wonders.

Congratulations, you have made a great purchase. The O'Day 28's we've sailed on here in Wichita have been powerful yachts very capable of handling the winds on the prairie.. "Sundance", the current 28 has a tiller and inboard gasoline engine. You can host dances in the ballroom below. Pat

Way to go! She will teach you a lot as you put her in ship shape! Let us know if you have any questions, we have talked or been through most things you will encounter. This forum has save my a&* a bunch of times!
How about "even keel' or something with balance in the name? Balance and forward motion is what sailing is about.......

Aaron, Congratulations on the O'day 28. I agree sailing and even maintaining a sail boat is great therapy. Enjoy!

PS : Deciding on the "right" name is harder than finding some parts.

I have some parts for an O'Day 28. You might be interested in a complete new set of cushions?

Congrats on the "new" boat... but im not sure if your in denial or if maybe you dont know it yet, but there aint no such thing as a boat "just needing a little cosmetic elbow grease"...... thats just a line you tell the wife so she will agree that its a good purchase and that you should buy it... :D
and it will either go one of two ways... either you will get your therapy from it, or you will end up needing more therapy because of it.....
