As a cold front approaches, the wind will begin to veer from E to SE and then SW, often freshening as it does so.A change to NW and then N, usually accompanied by squalls, cooler temperatures and lower humidity, will occur as the front goes by, usually within the next 12 to 24 hrs. Crossing the Gulf Stream with the wind from the N is not a good idea because the wind will be opposing the current and can creates a chop of legendary proportions. Good luck.PeterH23 "Raven"
