Has anyone had any experience with the PSS dripless Shaft Seal sold here at the Chandlery?

I installed a PSS about two months ago

Doug, I purchased a PSS dripless shaft seal from a Hunter dealer and installed it myself. Removing the the shaft flange from the shaft was a little time consuming. Once the flange was off the installation was easy. We have not had a single drop of water from the seal since installation. I love it. I researched the PSS seal before we installed and found many favorable reports. I would recommend it based on my experience thus far. Jerry S/V Windseeker

Put one on our '88 H L-35 in '89 and it's very helpful to keep salt water out of the bildge and out from under the engine. Previously, water would mix with any oil under the engine making it difficult to clean that area. Also, less moisture under the engine should help reduce rusting. Basically, we maintain a dry bildge except for any leakage into the boat from other leak sources, which is another reason to install it. Recommend some Lanocote or other antiseze material on the set screws during installation. Don't forget to burp it when the boat is put back into the water. After about three to six years the collar will need to be moved aft slightly, about 1/4-inch, to put more pressure on the bellows as the bellows looses some of it's elasticity. You'll know when to do this because there will be some slight leakage which will ocassionally get worse with time.

WHen I had my max prop put on (back in 94) I also had the leakproof seal put on. Until I moved here to be near my boat about 2 years ago, the boat was unattended, sometimes for nearly a year. No water in the blige, even when the batteries went dead for about 6 months. Jim W
