Just an update...
I installed the computer interface on the ICOM M802. The installation was simple; you unplug the Pactor modem and plug in the interface. Unfortunately the modem and the interface use the same ACC jack. I then tuned up the radio on 14070 and started Digipan. A click on the waterfall and I was receiving signals.
The only issue that came up was the Receive sensitivity. I'm using a Tigertronics interface and it has a built-in soundcard with its own RX and TX sound knobs. The advantage of this unit is because of the built-in soundcard, I can keep the computer on the computer soundcard and the Digipan uses the Tigertronics soundcard. So no computer beeps and alerts go through. But I'm finding I have to barely turn the RX just off minimum. Any more then that and the waterfall is all yellow. So I'm now wondering if the TX is that sensitive. Could just be the noisy area I'm in as my slip is in Los Angeles Harbor. Guess we'll find out tomorrow when I try to make my first contact. Hope my signal is clean.
Just a side note. When I plugged the modem back in, to my surprise, I was receiving PSK31 signals on my computer through the modem. I tried a couple of things, but the Digipan software would not key up the radio using the modem. So if you have a modem attached to your M802, it appears that you can listen but not transmit PSK31 signals.
