This weekend I had a mishap that turned out OK. I ran into a sand bar in the channel leading to the canal behind Janes Island State Park, MD. I was going very slow and hugging the greens as I was told to do. It was absolute low tide and I slowed to a gentle stop. Stuck. Any passing traffic slowed and went around me. I decide to check if my centerboard is up all the way the pennant cable lets loose. Opps. It's the 4th and BoatUS responded with an 1.5 hr wait for a tow, from Virginia.
Then it dawns on me. Sooner or later a big ole power boat is going to wake me. Sure enough 5 mins go bye and here comes Macho, Testosterone drive boat, flying 15 ft away. He kicked up a small sunami that lifted me as I put it in gear and floored it. I'm moving. On to better times. All the while my 4 yr old slept. She woke after we docked. Had an awesome slip at Somers Cove with perfect views of the fireworks. The marina also had a swiiming pool, a bouncey house and kid games that she loved.
So now the proud part. I'm thinking I have to haul it to fix and am imagining big bills but I remember a photo on here and today grabbed my snorkel gear and went for a swim. The cable stop thru the shackle had slipped off so I removed it and added a thimble. Another dive and I grabbed the cable. A friend watching me(with pole to retreive my body) warned of the jellyfish now on my shoulder. AHHH. No stings. One more dive and I shackled the two together. In the Dark. All together. Yeah Baby. $3.97 in parts.
Oh and the wife wants to go back to Somers Cove.
