As we in the colder climates get ready to haul our boats and get them ready for wintering over on the hard, I thought I'd post some pics of my collapsible ladder -- and the in-door/outdoor carpet I glued to its runners. This kind of ladder is really handy as it folds up nicely to fit in the trunk of an average car. It can also be hauled aboard the boat and will reach the lower spreaders of my H28.5, if need be. After getting a few minor gelcoat dings last year when laying this ladder up against the stern of the boat, I used a bit of leftover 5200 to glue some strips of carpet to the runners to prevent that from happening again.

How long 'til spring?

Excellent idea! I just faced the same issue yesterday. The boat was hauled Friday and I ended up chaining a ladder to the stands. BTW...I'm just north of you...on the Magothy.

I've been using one of this type of ladder for about 15 yrs. their great. I also take a 6' long plank for work in the spring. fold it out to make a platform, put the plank on and you have a working platform for all those fun jobs such as waxing etc.

I have one, but don't really like it. I find it not very stable when I use it as a scaffold, which is what I bought it for. It is also pretty heavy and I find that opening up is a pain with all those levers that need to be tripped in order to get the shape you want.
