Kevin; I have read about a feathering prop made of stainless steel. What are the advantages/disadvantages of such a prop? What is the relationship of a prop, and the shaft it is on? Mike

Feathering prop stuff

Hello Mike, I’m afraid Mike that my sales hat keeps getting in the way of my biased opinion of the stainless steel prop. I’m sure if Martec had the same question presented to them about our material, they would have good and bad things to say also. My guess is you are asking about compatibility’s of propellers and shafting. (Referring to you last post as well) On a galvanic scale you will see that most modern shaft materials are extremely close to most modern propeller materials. What we would be worried about are the dissimilar materials producing a galvanic reaction, which somehow overcomes our zinc protection and begins to create metal dissipation. In either case of any feathering propellers out on the market today, they are very compatible when used on any modern shafting material. If I have not completely understood your request, please feel free to ask again. Thanks and good luck. Kevin
