Headsail vs main sail sailing

Hey Scott,
I would really try getting the main sail working. It's more work to deploy but it's much easier to sail with in that coming about or tacking is easier but you have to be real careful if you're running with the wind. It's easy to get caught up in other thing and accidentally jibe. Visibility is better too. That's a long trip. I'd guess 2 days not sailing at night. I think you'd enjoy it more if you could turn the engine off for a while. Good Luck! Hope the weather is with you, we're in for a beautiful weekend here in the northeast.

Nice N Easy

I didn't end up using the main to motor sail. I think I am going to make lazy jacks before I use the main sail. I could have been in a bit of trouble while I was in the bay. The wind was blowing like 30 mph in the middle of the bay. I haven't inspected the rigging and I would have had a time reefing in that wind, never having done it before. The waves were maybe 3 or 4 feet at times, and the wind was coming at the beam. It was fun! Like riding a bull.
RAD, there is always wind in Corpus Christi.

The wiring system worked fine. I tried hooking up the dc for the boat but something was shorted when I tried to start the engine so I quickly disconnected it. I have to go through it and see exactly how that system is wired.
I didn't buy a voltage meter, just trusted that the alternator would work fine for this one trip. I want a flush mount digital meter, the boat store wanted like $200 or $250. I just looked at the guy working in the store and smiled. To which he replied 'yeah, I know'.
My task at hand now is to fix 3 blisters and paint the bottom. I have to replace the prop also. I am going to try to do the topsides like maine sail does since I have to use that off and on stuff that eats bottom paint I will do that first.
