Looking to install a PYI 3 blade MAX-Prop. A 19" model SKU ID 63316 has been recommended, with a 12" pitch. Does any who has a 340 have this type of prop and do you agree with the pitch recommendation? Floyd

Maxprop Investigated

Installed a 2-blade Maxprop on my craft a couple years hence. The 2-blade gives me all the prop surface needed for quick stops and reliable backing. We always back into the slip with the Hunter because of the easy on/off through the transom. Quoted sizes where 16X13 for the 2-blade and 15X12 for the 3-blade. Make sure you really need a 3-blade before investing the additional amount. Sailkota

Would recommend 2 blade for a 34 foot boat

I would recommend a 2 blade prop based on my experience with a 35 footer. Diameter should probably be similar to the stock 2 blade. The pitch is adjustable on a Maxi-Prop. The 2 blade will save you considerable $. Look at article in cruising world on props run a few months ago. You may want to consider Gori or Flex-O-Fold folding prop. I had great success with a Flex-O-Fold.

Sounds like a lot of Prop

A 19X12 sounds like a lot of both diameter and pitch for a 34 unless your engine developes full power at 2000 rpm or less.

That's a bit big

We've been putting 15" 3-blades set at 13" of pitch on the 340 as Ron mentioned. 16x12 2-Blades. I don't think the 19" diameter would even swing on your boat. It would probably hit the bottom of the hull or come very close. The good news? A 15" prop costs less than a 19" prop.

The SKU #

Dear Floyd, The SKU # is a 16" three blade and not a 19" as posted in your note. If you were given that size, 19", it will not fit the application. The 16" three blade is a correct size. Please feel free to call me at 1-800-523-7558 if you are not getting the responses you are looking for. Sincerely, Kevin L. Woody
