I have been a little disappointed with hull speed when motoring. I was thinking of changing my prop - I have the standard prop that came with the boat in l997. Anybody changed their prop to get better motoring speed? I am starting a 2 month motoring trip up the ICW and I have a Yanmar 30 engine. Thanks.

Changing Prop

We are changing are prop from the factory 2 blade to a 3 blade. Not enough power to comfortable get out of the Lake Worth Inlet in a C34 Mk II. The local dealer will not sell a Catalina 30+ footer without a 3 blade prop.

For the best motoring speed, look at the autoprop. It may be a bit spendy, but they give good performance. They are auto pitching giving you the best pitch posible. A 3 blade gives more torque, and they are smoother, but not much faster. Good luckBob
