I have a 3 blade prop on my 9.2a my engine is a yanmar 2gm. is this engine overproped. i get alot of port stern in reverse. what prop is best for my boat

first off you have not given enough info to answer your question ....second if you contact michigan wheel and ask them what prop you need for your boat and give them all the info they ask for they will give you a recomended prop for you setup....

Props are often stamped with diameter, rotation and pitch. A 3 blade will also differ from a 2 blade. The engine HP, transmission ratio and the number of bearings involved all impact prop selection.

My 1979 9.2A 2qm15 powered came with a 2 blade Michigan Sailor I think RH 16 dia 8 inch pith. I replaced it with a three blade Campbell Sailor R-14-8. I get to 6 knots motoring in flat conditions with less vibration. Backing is smoother with less prop walk.

I do get some black exhaust at full throttle, a sign of overloading the engine. But, at about 3/4 throttle, the engine purrs, does not overheat and does nto smoke. I'm quite happy with this prop.
