Propeller Two or Three Blade

We are currently using a two bladed prop and I'm wondering if the boat would be more responsive under power with a three blade prop. I've checked through many postings on this site but haven't really run across an answer specific to this question. What are the pros and cons of changing to a three blade prop?

Mike, lots of opinions on this site...

Two blade has less drag than a three blade. Three blade can provide more thrust, but neither can push your boat much faster than hull speed. Some say that the three blade runs smoother. I've had both and thrust is about the only difference that I can tell. Terry P.S. BTW, a three blade means one more blade that has to be polished while on the hard.

For a given engine speed the 3 blade will normally give more thrust. My boat reaches max speed at about 2500-2800 RPM with the 3 blade. I have a cambell sailor 3 blade

If it goes hull speed now ...

with the 2 blade it ain't broke so don't fix it. I will cause more drag when you sail and cost way more than it's worth
