How do I tighten my propeller shaft strut?

the shaft strut on my catalina 27 was loose, play side to side, so the fix was to haul the boat out and grind out material around the strut and fill with epoxy and glass . the struts are glassed into the hull. while the boat is out you should check if the shaft is bent and your propellor is balanced.

And ...

Make sure that you do a engine-transmission-prop shaft alignment. Failure to do so will almost certainly cost you another cutlass bearing. The alignment should be done once the boat is launched & the standing rigging is tuned. Also, make sure to put new packing material in the shaft seal & replace the shaft seal boot and clamps while you're at it.--RonD
