Propeller Replacement H29.5

Hunter 29.5 Mallard Cove
I ran over a tree and sheared the blades off my 1995 H29.5 propeller.

Have new prop on way from Hunter, photo shows keyed connection with castellated locknut and cotter pin.

Manual is not clear, but shows match turned shaft and no key and no lock nut.....

Have any of you performed this replacement? Can you confirm what you found....??

Did you pull boat to replace, or were you able to do so by moving boat into shallow water stern first and performing work with snorkel....??

Well thank you. I now know what a bad idea that could be. Better to learn from others than to have the experience.

With out any experience on your prop I would think based on your event, I would pull the boat and inspect the prop, the shaft, strut, cutlass bearing, shaft log, rudder and hull. If you hit something hard enough to shear off the prop blades it is possible there is underlying damage that will show up in the near future.

MaineSail has a great write up about Prop replacement.

I used it to replace my prop. It went smoothly, with out incident. There was a key, lock nut and castle nut to secure the prop on a tapered shaft.
Good luck.
