Propane won't stay on...

I'm having a heck of a time with my propane stove on my H306. The propane lights but then stops after about 5 minutes. The tank is at 100, the solenoid gets hot (so I believe it is working), but once it goes out I cannot get it to start again. The following day it will start up again. Any thoughts? Thank you!

a hot coil is normal, but it could still be damaged inside and losing its holding power to keep the valve open.... but it could be the regulator also. when the flame goes out, do not shut off the master, but loosen the line fitting on the reg and see if you have gas flow there.... if so, crack the line between the shutoff coil and the stove to see if you have any gas flow.... this will tell you where the problem is.

Is there a burner thermocouple? If it is faulty, it will shut off propane supply.

Thanks everyone. After breaking the system down for trouble shooting I noticed a bit of sticky discharge around the solenoid and that doesn't seem right. I've got one on order and will start there. Thanks for the trouble shooting help!

Is it cool out? Propane is supplied by boiling it using the heat in the air. Cool temps result in less boiling and fuel starvation. Usually when the tank is at or below 40 F

If that's the case then BBQing in the winter at -20 wont happen. But then again what do I know after 30 years winter BBQing.

When a solenoid fails it defaults to a closed position shutting off gas. In a case of emergency and for testing purpose the solenoid can be removed and by-passed allowing the stove to function properly. Just have to be conscious that the ability to remotely shut off the gas is lost and a replacement should be installed as soon as possible. I would manually close the tank valve after every use.

I let gasoline with ethanol sit in my lawn mower for months and it starts right away, does that mean I can do it with the dinghy outboard?

I had the hose go bad on my stove a few years back. It acted the same way. The burner would light and burn ok for a short time then go out and would not relight. Would relight after awhile but repeat the afore mentioned cycle. Tested everything else, still no go. Changed the hose, it's been fine ever since.

Bet you a schooner of beer, you got it right!
I own a coin op laundry that had brand new gas dryers, following Katrina. Their use, as you might imagine, put a years duty on them in 2 months following the storm.
I begin to get many complaints that my dryers were "rigged" because they were costing more $. The worked fine by testing.
Guess what? The spring in the $10 solenoid valve had weaken and when warmed up, it started to "safety" shut off, cool a bit, and start again. Thus, they would not show fault and would take longer to dry clothes.

I changed them all and no more Dryer heating problems.

the sticky could be the thread sealant that was used, or it could be something melted out of the coil...
hopefully the new valve solves the problem, but it can get expensive buying stuff to install in the system without doing the troubleshooting first...

it is true that propane does not convert to a gas as quickly as it gets colder, but for the small amount of gas required to maintain the flame, from that size of container, it wont have any problems being converted even down to around -42 degrees!
