We recently purchased a 1987 41' Morgan Classic (successor to out-island). It had CNG tanks stored inside but we changed the stove to propane and can't seem to figure out a good place to store the propane tank (in a box?) that will look good and possible to run the propane line, which we now have through the engine room and out into the cockpit. Any suggestions?

Propane tanks have to be stored outside, in an enclosed space or locker, with a sealed bottom and a drain to the outside but above the waterline since propane is heavier than air. Perhaps you can constuct a "box" inside an existing cockpit locker and run a drain from it to a a thru-hull above the water line. Just a thought. Good luck.

I also have a 41' Morgan Classic 1988 and am getting ready to convert from CNG to Propane. They make special boxes for the tanks. Depending on what size tanks you want dictates the size of the box. I am going to mount mine next the the Aft Hatch on the port side. The Starboard side has the life raft. Still plenty of room to move around. I am just not sure how I will route it forward, still working on that. Tony
Mary, Could you give me the source where you converted your stove to propane or did you buy a new stove. I have found one source in California but they do not seem very helpful. Thank you. Tony
Rear Lazaret
For my Morgan 38 I cut a hole through the deck aft of the cockpit into the rear lazaret. Under the hole i built a plywood box sealed to the bulkhead and ran the drain pipe from the bottom of the plywood box to the drain hole for the lazaret.
