Propane tanks

Anyone have any ideas on where outside to out a propane tank? The only idea I had was to enclose it in a PVC water pipe hanging on the stern rail(soley for corrosion protection). The lazarette is not deep enough for the stand up tank and I don't want to do more than drill a vent hole in the bottom for a horizonal tank.

temporary storage

I store a small propane tank in my anchor locker when going away for a weekend. The locker vents overboard at a low point.

Locker in Lazerette

Seaward makes a nice self-contained properly vented propane locker with a small tank w/solonoid that fits nicely in the stern lazerette of my C-30. I'm sure it would fit many other boats as well. It's available from West Marine for about $200. It's cube shaped and measures about 1' in each dimension.
