Propane Tank Replacement

Has anyone had to replace their propane tank on their late 90's Beneteau? In Canada the regulations require that a tank be less than 10 years old to be refilled, unless it is recertified by a propane tank company approved by the government. Most people just replace the tank at this point. Given that my tank is a nice clean aluminum tank that is compatable with the rest of the system, I am trying to get it recertified. My guy on that job says he can recertify it if he can get a replacement valve. He is currently looking into this - but it is an usual tank in his opinion. I am waiting on this now.

I could just replace it, but I am worried about other problems, such as locker space and the fittings. Not to mention a new aluminum tank is priced at C$250 at West Marine.

Has anyone been down this road?

Haven't done it, but try your local Superior Propane or Sterling Propane outlet. I'm sure they will have the parts and can do it for a reasonable cost, much less than $250

edit.......

Just searched Superior Propanes web site and came up with this location for recertification in Ontario
