propane stove

I have a 1969 Vega (which I bought about 6 weeks ago), the Williwa,
and I'm having trouble with the propane stove. It has an old 2-
burner Primus which, for all I know, came with the boat.

I just installed a new propane locker with a regulator at the tank,
and replaced the propane lines. Unfortunately, the stove apparently
was running on high pressure propane before (there was no regulator
at the old tank), because now with a low-pressure supply it barely
makes a tiny flame. I'm guessing the stove has its own regulator.

The stove worked like a charm before on the old system (I had to redo
the system because the old tank didn't have an overflow prevention
device and couldn't be refilled, and I couldn't find a new tank to
fit into the old locker).

I found something on line about a "low pressure control valve" which
allows a high-pressure appliance to run on low-pressure propane. I
don't know where I might get one of those, or if it would make my old
stove work. I could find some for sale on-line but they appear to be
made for specific appliances (BBQ grills).

I'm trying to find a way not to have to pay $400 plus for a new
stove. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm wondering if maybe I can go
inside the stove and bypass the regulator, if it has one.

Go into the stove and remove the regulator. I had 2 BBQ grills and my RV stove the same way, and bypassed them all.
