i RECENTLY WENT TO HAVE THE PROPANE TANK FILLED FOR MY OCEANIS 461 AND WAS TOLD IT DID NOT MEET THE NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR SAFETY. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS A NEW STATE - SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT OR FEDERAL. I'M CURIOUS IF ANYONE KNOWS IF THERE IS A KIT THAT CAN BE PURCAHSED TO RETROFIT THE TANK IN ORDER TO BE IN COMPLIANCE OR IS MY ONLY ALTERNATIVE TO BUY A NEW TANK? IF THE LATTER - WHAT IS THE BEST SOURCE - WEST MARINE HAS ONE FOR $150+ WHICH SEEMED A LITTLE STEEP, THANKS

Find a Propane distributor

I assume the problem is you have the old style valve. The old valve can be replaced with the new valve (OPD?) and the tank filled for a total of about $20. I went to a propane distributor (one of those firms with the big tank farms of propane) to have the work done. Check the yellow pages.

propane tank

Andrew; The tank on my Ben 400 had the old style valve. I wanted to keep the tank because it fit in the locker; you probably do, too. Find an RV equipment and supplies place near you. Change the valve and fill the tank was $30.
