propane gas storage

I am new to sailing and really new to this boat. This is only one of several questions I have, but will start here and see how it goes.
I have a 1984 ODay 37 that is not set up with a dedicated gas/propane locker. Has anyone retrofied a 37 to use propane and if so how did you deal with the tank placement

I have an '82 37CC. Are you saying that you do not have a propane box located on deck at the stern next to the ladder? Some folks have relocated the tank storage from this location but while it doesn't look pretty, it's probably the safest place.
