I have a 1978 hunter 30. It is propelled by a yanmar 12 hp. ysm12. I am interested what type of props other hunter 30's are using. thanks

2 bladed fixed prop

I'll bet most still use the original prop. Most responses may tell why members have upgraded, and why. We have sent our two bladed original to Bay Prop for reconditioning, and adding their tip modification. It will push our h27 4.5 versus 4.2 knots at cruising RPM. That's plenty for us, and we didn't want the drag of a three bladed fixed prop while sailing. We don't race, so a folding or feathering prop is too much of an investment. Generally, going faster under power means a new engine. David Lady Lillie

Same boat, same motor

We have a two-blade 13" diameter x 10" pitch, Left Hand prop. I believe it is the original. It will push the boat at about 6 knots on a calm day with a clean prop and bottom. Let the prop get fouled or a chop get up and its much less.

Mine was a 13x11 2 bladed

on my 76 h30. It was a Mich. Wheel prop and a ysm 12 engine. I repowered with a with a vetus 22 hp and a Campbell Sailor 3 bladed prop. My new prop is 13x9 and I can get 7 knots in calm water. I usually just cruise at 2200 rpm and I run 5.5-6 knots. The Campbell Sailor has only a small increase in drag over the old Mich. Wheel 2 blade. The 3 bladed has very narrow blades. Hope this helps.
