"An old Sabre 28" is too vague to give you a confident answer. Check the Moyer Marine (Atomic 4 community). The Mk1 often had an Atomic 4 Gasoline engine. If so, a 7/8's prop shaft is often mentioned. The stickler is that you may not have the Mk1. A previous owner may have switched out the Atomic 4 for a newer diesel engine, as later models came equipped. The later diesel engines often used a 1" or a 25mm propshaft.

You would be safer buying an inexpensive caliper tool if you're trying to identify the diameter to replace a shaft zinc.
